"Steady Saturday" Ride : Louth- Saltfleetby -Louth 26th July 2025

Group of people riding

A grey but warm 8 a.m. start today, with 4 riders meeting at the Meridian Centre, Louth.
Ty Harness (ride leader), Sue, Mick, and Tim set off together, and we picked up Mark en route, heading out along the Keddington Road.

We left Louth via Keddington, Alvingham, North Cockerington, Red Leas lane, Howdales and Saltfleetby , finally arriving at the Little Village Tea Room  at 9:15 a.m. The café was the former primary school.  During our coffee break, the conversation turned to the local vernacular pronunciation of Saltfleetby as "Soloby." Although Ty, being a yokel, doesn’t know why, he assumes (probably wrongly) that the word is a shibboleth to distinguish locals from those in the neighbouring village of Saltfleet.  We decided to take a longer route home extending the ride to a 25miler but as we walked out of the door it started to rain so we returned back on the shortest route.

Thanks to all the riders who joined today for this new 'Steady Saturday' ride event.
