“Repair Café Ride” – 11/04/26

Combining the Repair Café Ride with the Steady Saturday Bike Ride, today’s ride started with just two riders: Ty Harness and Tim Newbury, despite the weather being dark and overcast.

We took a simple route out of Louth via Brackenborough and round into Alvingham. We stopped at a small, friendly village shop to stock up on provisions: J. Shaw and Sons in Alvingham, which sells some fine local fayre.  Worth a visit if you're visiting the area.  Heading back to Louth we crossed over the Louth Canal at Ticklepenny Lock.

We then travelled on to the Repair Café on Park Avenue, Louth, for a brew and some homemade cake. There’s a dedicated bike repair section run by James Pocklington, where they’ve refurbished at least 100 bicycles for people in poverty. They accept donatation of bikes and parts for the “Wheels for Life” charity. In conjunction with the Repair Café charity, members of the public can also take advantage of repairs and parts for a small donation.  Grab a coffee and get you're bike checked over for free.
