Annual Reindeer Ride (At a Stretch) Friday 22nd December 2023

A ‘Lincs Social Cycling’ Ride led by Melanie Carroll

Tim Newbery would represent Cycling UK Louth on this annual ride, kindly organised by Melanie Carroll. The ride would start from Lincoln’s Brayford Pool with a stop at the Giant Bike Shop Café at Doddington Hall for refreshments.

Today we’d also be celebrating the Winter Solstice. Tim had woken early in the hope of watching the sunrise but instead was greeted by a blanket of thickening cloud. The weather forecast was for patchy rain with gusts of wind into the 30’s so very breezy once more.

Tim started his journey near Washingborough, taking the Water Rail Way to Lincoln’s Brayford Pool where he’d meet up with Melanie, Andy and Rob. In addition to twigs and branches in our helmets for antlers (we were after all supposed to be reindeer), there were twigs and branches scattered across the pathway too, following on from yesterday’s storm.

Arriving at the Giant Café at Doddington Hall, we were greeted by Sue and we were soon seated comfortably inside. Carrots were the choice of the day, although admittedly for Tim this would be in the guise of a large slice of delicious carrot cake followed by a Festive gingerbread latte.

This was also a ‘Winter Wheelers’ Love To Ride (Lincolnshire) event so a chance of winning a Christmas Prize! https://bit.ly/WinterWheelers2023 #WinterWheelers www.lovetoride.net/lincolnshire

Thanks Melanie. Happy Christmas.
