Potters Bar and The Plough

Private dining in The Plough

It was cold in the morning for Easter Sunday in early April, but fortunately the rain had cleared by the time most of us set off from the tin church in Bedmond. As the usual start point was in the shade, the group gathered in the sunshine outside the house opposite.

We departed south through Abbots Langley before cutting through parts of Garston and rather naughtily went through the private grounds of the Building Research Station to reach Old Bricket Wood, before going through the edge of Radlett to Shenley. After we crossed the M25 we soon reached a new cafe stop , Cafe 24 on the edge of Potter's Bar.

Unfortunately Mark's chain broke just before the 11's stop but it was fixed very quickly by helpers in the group who had the correct tools and knowledge of how to use them. We had to find a different cafe as the pinned stop at the Dutch Nursery was closed on Easter Sunday due to the Sunday Trading Act 1994.

We got a bit of a shock to find that Cafe 24 was cash only, but we managed to get by.

After the coffee stop we headed north and did a loop out towards Little Berkhamstead before going west to our lunch stop at The Plough in Tyttenhanger Green near St Albans where we managed to bag a large table and enjoyed good value lunches. Another enjoyable ride on a .sunny day
