Louth to Barton Upon Humber 80 miles 23/08/26

Starting at 8am with just 2 riders : Ty Harness and guest rider Ken Woolley.  Louth to Barton is longest single day ride of the year.  The weather was perfect and we made good time out through Wold Newton, Hattcliffe over to Swallow for 10am where we would meet Tim Newbury.  Tim had chosen to drive to Swallow and bike to Barton.  Then on through Brocklesby to Ulceby for a quick ice cream at the Coop.  Then the route into Barton thus uear was via Wooten and the quiet Caister Road.  

The intended destination was the Elswick Hopper Mueseum at the Stables Cafe in the grounds of Baysgarth House just off the Caister Road.

We were able to enjoy some good food and coffee and a look round the Elswick Hopper exhibition.

We would also visit the bridge viewing area on the King Charles Viking Way Coastal Path.   Then riding out of Barton towards Barrow we find our way onto the Thorntan Curtis Road and we had time for a quick look at Thornton Abbey alas the masonry has become far too unsafe to allow members of the public to enter but is still a nice area for a picnic.

Could we get back to Ulceby before the Chums café closed   - we did and we enjoyed a nice slice of carrot cake.

We delivered Tim back to Swallow where he kindly gave us the the choice to get a lift back to louth.  But Ken found a second wind and we made it back to Louth for 5pm.  A long tough day for sure...
