CTC Midweek and Cycling UK Oxfordshire Group Merger

Originally published 16th January 2022

We are happy to announce that the two Special General Meetings held last week both Approved the Merger of the two County-wide Oxfordshire Groups and that the merger will go ahead on Wednesday 19th January 2022.

The Cycling UK Oxfordshire meeting attendance was under a level where we have to seek ratification from Cycling UK, but this has been given.

As planned, we will hold a the first Special General Meeting of the Merged Group on the 19th January at 7:30pm with the Agenda of:

  1. Deciding the merged Group's name
  2. Electing the Group's Committee

All Cycling UK Members, particularly those resident or cycling in Oxfordshire are welcome at the meeting. It is an online meeting on Zoom and you can Register here.
It's a great time to join the Committee with new ideas or just to help out. Please contact me, Peter Hallowell or one of the other Committee Members to find out more about helping in any way.

We're looking forward to a productive time as a merged Group including:

  • The Midweek Ride programme - the same as it ever was, with main rides on Wednesdays and Elevenses meetingson Tuesdays and Thursdays (all meet at 10:30).
  • CTC Wallingford's Ride programme on Thursdays and weekends, at the edge of the Chilterns.
  • Planning a Tri-vets Century 2022 ride (surely 50 is young!)
  • Continuing campaigning for better cycling facilities and driver behaviour, including as Oxfordshire Cycling Network (OCN), Twitter: @OxonCyclingNet and as part of CoHSAT @CoHSAT
  • Simplifying the two Groups' administration and websites down to one lean and efficient operation. (We'll pace ourselves.)

Happy cycling,

Cycling UK Oxfordshire
