Last year’s minutes have been available on the club website.

The minutes were unanimously approved.

Treasurer's Report

Miles Goff presenting the Treasurers Report for the financial year 2024 to 2025.

Current balance £1143.00, increased form the previous balance  of £979 at the 2024 AGM.

There was an income of £200 from Cycling UK.

Expenditure was £27 for the hire of the Village Hall and £59.47 for First Aid kits for the ride leaders.

This includes money which was paid to the club by CUK to facilitate a First Responder training course but which was left over after the event in 2022. It was agreed that this money will be used in the near future for a similar event.
The accounts were audited by Andy Cox and approved.

Secretary's Report

Peter Herron provided an overview of the club's activities since the last AGM.

This year we ran 76 rides in 2024 + 27 so far in 2025 = 103 rides since last April. We cancelled 7 rides mostly due to bad weather and most of those in December. Over 60 different people have attended rides. Attendance has gradually climbed with rides often around 8 to 10. The maximum attendance was 14. There appears to be a core of regular riders that maintain these numbers.

The number of ride leaders has been better than last year and it has been easier to provide a full calendar. However we would encourage anyone interested in volunteering to speak to existing ride leaders. You would get lots of support. There are typically just three planning meetings a year to attend, as well as leading the rides on the day.

David King once again stepped up and organised some trips for the club. There was a two day Yorkshire Wolds Way outing in April which turned out to be a very cold weekend but was enjoyed by all. In June there was a four day gravel trip around the Wolf Way in Suffolk. It was quite bumpy but enjoyed by all. David also organised the September annual 100 mile Century Ride which had 11 participants this time visiting Wymondham & Heckington windmills.

We enjoyed a number of away days. In May a trip around Ely & Wicken Fen, once more led by David and later that month a trip to Kibworth Beauchamp & Great Bowden led by Adrian Woodward. In October David led a St Ives to Cambridge jaunt with coffee in Fowlmere. Recently in March Julie Crossman organised a successful gravel away day around King's Lynn, with fabulous dry weather whilst in poured down in Peterborough.

In August Paul Newman organised a very well attended pizza ride to New Lodge farm which may have involved a beer or two in King's Cliffe on the way back.

In December we had a great turn out for the annual club Christmas dinner at The Crown Inn, in Elton. Many thanks to Jonathan Orchard & Angela Henderson for organising this.

We are already looking forward to a return trip to the Lakes & Dales loop in August. Ideas for other trips and help organising them is very welcome.

Nomination & Election of Officers

The current committee have now mostly been serving for four years. It has been the long-held view of the committee through its various memberships, that ideally there should be a rotation of roles after three years, in order to avoid stagnation and getting stuck in a rut. However, the committee have not been able to find willing volunteers previously. Last year Peter Herron stated that he would not stand for secretary again. We have sought new members. Jamal Lumsden-Din has volunteered to stand as club secretary. There was no other interest expressed. The rest of the  current committee members are willing to stand again for another year. Pauline Smith indicated this would be the last year she would stand for chair.

Nominations were sought

Nominated and adopted:

Chair – Pauline Smith

Secretary & Membership Officer – Jamal Lumsden-Din

Treasurer - Miles Goff

Ride Secretary – David King

Social Secretary & Safeguarding / Welfare Officer – Jonathan Orchard

Use of Funds

There was discussion that there are now substantial funds that we should use for the benefit of members. Discussion settled on two ideas: another First Responder course and some maintenance classes. The First Responder course should be provided by someone suitably qualified. Mile Goff agreed to research this.  Discussion around maintenance identified two subjects: 'get you home' road side repairs and basic home maintenance  and pre-ride checks. These could be provided by a professional, but given the level decided on there is enough experience in the club to provide this in-house. Miles Goff, David King & Peter Herron agreed to look at organising these sessions.

Christmas Meal

There was general agreement that The Crown, used for several years was probably too expensive now and this had reduced attendance last year. There was some discussion about alternative venues but no  decision was made. There was agreement that ideally it would be close enough to Peterborough for people to cycle back afterwards.  Jonathon Orchard agreed to research the options.
