About us

COME AND JOIN US ON A CLUB RIDE

If you think you may want to join the club, why not introduce yourself on our Facebook page, or come down to our start point outside the Royal Oak in Garstang on a Saturday morning? Our rides start at 9-30am so get there early. We are a friendly club and not everyone is a lycra-clad racer, so don't feel intimidated if you are more leisure cyclist than Olympic hopeful!

Unlike many clubs, all our weekly organised rides are on a SATURDAY. However, if Saturday isn't a good day for you, there are additional social rides most weeks, usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday- or both, which can be viewed by joining our Facebook page, where members will suggest a route or cafe visit- always a great social tootle to somewhere. For the Fast Boys, we also organise ad hoc Chain Gang evenings or even a quick blast around the Trough. So something for everyone- you just need to keep up to date on our Facebook page or the front page of our website

And all for £10 a year membership- what's not to like?

Information about the group rides

Most Saturdays we have three different rides, catering for different levels of fitness, and people's preferences.

  • A Ride - upwards of 80 miles and some in excess of 100 miles, average cycling speed 15-18mph.
  • B Ride - covers between 40 to 60 miles, average cycling speed 12-16mph
  • C Ride - covers 25 to 40 miles, average cycling speed 10-12mph.

These figures are guidelines and may vary slightly according to the particular ride chosen. All groups ride at the pace of the slowest rider and no-one gets left behind.

All groups stop off for a brew and a chat at a suitably located cafe along the way. We are usually back in Garstang between 2 and 3pm, although on some longer rides it can be later in the afternoon.

The meeting point for our rides is The Royal Oak, right in the centre of Garstang by the Market Cross, ("the Cobbles"), usually setting off at 09:30.

Some weeks we have rides well away from Garstang, ("Park and Ride"), details of which, including start point, start time, proposed route and so on, are posted on our Facebook page by the ride co-ordinator, during the preceding week.

Each quarter, we publish a list of the proposed rides for each group and details are available on our website.
