About us

We formed Delamere cycling club in 2018 to be totally inclusive and sociable for our members whatever their riding goals are.  When you join us you can expect to be included in discussions about what you'd like to do on two wheels and we will always accommodate if we possibly can.

By affiliating ourselves to Cycling UK we want to give everyone who joins us confidence that we are being professional in everything we do - from our disctinctive Delamere club kit to the tours we go on.  Our ride leaders benefit from affiliation to Cycling UK through their insurance scheme and advice.

We currently have around 65 active members with 300 followers on facebook who join us from time to time.  We keep in touch through our facebook group and if you'd like through a series of different Whatsapp groups depending on your riding interests.  You can also join us on Strava to download routes.

Every year we do a series of sportives, tours, weekends away, social events like barbecues and curry nights.  You can be involved as little or as much as you like, even organise something if you'd like some company.

All our rides have a no drop policy - we ride together for the joy of riding.

Information about the group rides

The core of our riding is a 60km - 80km or so club ride every Saturday ( 0900) and Sunday (08:30) morning with a variety of insured ride leaders.  They find out who is aiming to join on the ride and organise a ride with cafe stop accordingly.  No one ever gets dropped or feels uncomfortable - we ride at the pace of the slowest member.  We always start at the Morris Dancer pub in Kelsall.

On Wednesday evenings in the summer we have a regular confidence building ride for anyone who wants to feel more comfortable riding in a group on the road.

We also participate in a number of sportives / audaxes throughout the year including the Cheshire Cat, Tour de Mon, Hope House Hospice, Birmingham Velo 100 and more.

We have an annual riding weekend - 2025 it's in the Peak district in early May.  We also have regular tours set up by members - this year we went to Scotland and mid Wales.

Finally we have a "gnarly rides" group that aims to do endurance and long distance tours / challenges which have included the Trans Continental Race, North Coast 500 in Scotland, Coast to Coast, North Wales and Kelsall to Holyhead.
