About us
Dalbeattie Community Initiative are a Cycling UK affiliated group.
Dalbeattie Community Initiative run the Dalbeattie Community Ebike Project.
The ebike project organises all ability ebike rides in Dalbeattie and surrounding area led by local volunteers. More details are online here: E-Bikes | The Initiative
Dalbeattie Community Initiative help to organise annual cycling events and rides for regular bikes too including the Hardrock offroad duathlon Hardrock Duathalon | The Initiative
The aim of DCI is to act as a catalyst within the community, to respond to local needs and effectively reflect local priorities in order to promote and encourage the economic, social and physical regeneration of Dalbeattie and the surrounding area.
Information about the group rides
The Dalbeattie Community Ebike project provides free group cycle rides for all abilities using electric bikes.
We aim to provide the opportunity for the community to:
- Gain confidence on a bike
- Learn more about ebikes
- Practise cycling skills
- Improve fitness
- Explore local area
- Meet like minded people
Rides start and finish in Dalbeattie and using a mixture of quiet roads, cycle paths and woodland tracks.
Ride route, length and timing are matched to the aims and ability of participants. We include plenty of opportunity to rest, chat or practise cycling skills.
Rides are lead by trained volunteers from the Dalbeattie Community Initiative
There are opportunities to join the project as a volunteer and benefit from cycle ride leader and first aid training courses.
