About us

We have two regular groups.

All you need is a bike that will get you round, and whilst we'll help you fix punctures, you should bring a spare inner tube with you. If you are running with tubeless tyres, you are probably in the wrong group ! About half the regular riders in both groups use e-bikes.

The Monday group meets at Leisure World, Colchester at 1030 on Mondays. There rides vary from 30 to 50 km, at around 15kmh and are generally circular, stopping for an early lunch half way around. This is mindful social cycling, we support everybody to get around, nobody is left behind. Sometimes we natter when we cycle, sometimes we just enjoy cycling. Most of us are older, some are recovering from or managing health conditions. These rides have trained leaders and are run under the auspices of Cycling UK. It is worth checking with Nick Avery 07969 835918, especially if the weather is not kind. We have a broad mix of genders and ages, in the range 50-75 and regulars can join the Whatsapp Group.

The Wednesday group meets at Leisure World, Colchester at 1100 on Wednesdays, and whilst the format is similar to Monday, the speeds and distances are much lower, typically 10kmh and 10-15 km. This is a less formal group, you ride at your own risk. Check with Claire Bailey on 07925 368802.

Can you help with getting a bike or bicycle maintenance ?

We'll help with maintenance where we can, but you really need to go to the Bike Kitchen https://colchesterbikekitchen.org.uk/ for proper help. They'll also be able to advise on choosing a bike or indeed on drinking coffee with other cyclists.
