Yorkshire Wolds and Coast 200km Audax
Event description
A ride over The Wolds to the beautiful Yorkshire coast and back.
There are a few hills in the early part of the ride over the Wolds, but this is a fairly gentle ride with a flattish ride for the rest of the way out to the Flamborough Head control. You then ride through Bridlington old town and inland for a while, passing the tallest monolith in the UK in Rudston churchyard. You then return to the coast at Hornsea. The return route passes through historic Beverley and back over the Wolds (not quite as hilly in this more Southerly part) to Stamford Bridge.
This presents a much flatter ride than the North York Moors Grimpeur 200 with which it shares a start and finish. If you are not a fan of big hills then this ride is for you!
There is no catering provided, but the bar will be open at the Old Station Club at the finish, with hot and cold drinks available. There is also food available until 8pm, for those who manage to finish by then. You will also be able to see the tapestry to the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066, which is located in the club.
