West and North Edinburgh
Event description
Happy New Year to One and All,
For the first Sunday ride of the New Year we will stay close to Edinburgh.
We meet at Redhall Park at 0950am for a 1000am depart. Westward along the canal to bridge 12 and a Toilet stop at Herriot Watt which should be open. From there we go north to RBS head office and join the cycle track on the north side of the A8, past the Tram Depot and along Turnhouse Road and around the road towards Cammo, turning left over the River Almond on Grotto Bridge into Riverside Road and on to an early lunch/late coffee at Craigie’s.
After refreshments we head north to the A90 cycle path to Burnshot and re cross the River Almond on the Old Toll Bridge, along to Whitehouse Road to Cramond and follow the water side route to Leith Harbour and then pick up Sustrans route 75 and 11 to Roseburn where the ride ends. Some may well peel off before this however.
The route is approximately like this about 50K.
