Meet at Robin’s Nest (info here - Our starting points) for a 10am departure.
This run takes us to North Middleton for lunch at the village hall, 20 miles out and 18 return. The Garmin was far from an unqualified success on Wednesday’s East Linton ride but I shall give it another go, hence you get this link https://gb.mapometer.com/cycling/route_5003632.html
After a modest ascent to Gilmerton we head out on the cyclepath to Roslin (hopefully this is the route shown on mapometer) where we join the road for Auchendinny and take another path to Rosewell then the “Whitehill Loop” for Carrington and on via Temple to Middleton. Any paths that do not have a tarmac surface have a stone base so should not present a problem if it rains.
The afternoon swings us round the scenic way to Dalkeith at which point a vote will be taken as to whether we have coffee at the country park or press on to Dobbies, notwithstanding which the route will take is by that way back to the Robin’s Nest.
Everyone is very welcome to attend, but for riders new to the group, our riding guidelines on the following link are essential reading prior to coming out on the ride to ensure safety for yourself and the other riders.
You will be expected to join Cycling UK after 3 rides.
Do take note of my phone number in case you get separated from the group - 079348 40556, and for new riders I will collect your details prior to the ride. If you intend to be a regular rider with us please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your details and a contact number so that we will have these available in case of emergency.
Please make sure your bike is roadworthy and that you have two spare inner tubes and basic tools to change an inner tube. You will need to have water, packed lunch, money for coffee, a bike lock and lights. Remember you are riding at your own risk and whilst the group will always try to help out as best as possible with punctures and mechanical problems, you are responsible for looking after yourself and getting yourself home.
