Mannerston’s Cafe
Event description
Sundays ride is a clockwise route to lunch in Mannerston’s Café just past Linlithgow, where I have reserved a table. https://www.strava.com/routes/22218962
We will meet at Roseburn Path at 9.50 am for a prompt departure at 10am. The route starts beautifully and continues that way.
We will head out via Cramond, Kirkliston and Niddry where we can have a comfort stop al fresco.
Then we head up to Faucheldean, Ochiltree and a lovely descent towards Linlithgow, where we will take up the canal path for one and a half miles. Then north to Champany and lunch at 21 miles.
After lunch we will continue our descent to the coast at Blackness and then return to Edinburgh via Hopeton estate and South Queensferry.
My lead will end at Miller and Carter but it’s another 4 miles back to the start 37 miles in total. There’s a football match on so NO SPOILERS!
Please note that apart from a small section after lunch this route is all on roads or tarmac cycle paths but many of the cycle paths have wet leaves on them which could be slippery so we will keep to a modest pace on these sections.
Sunday’s weather looks reasonably fair with a moderate wind. https://www.bbc.com/weather/2652311
Everyone is very welcome to attend but for riders new to the group, our riding guidelines on the following link are essential reading prior to coming out on the ride to ensure safety for yourself and the other riders. https://www.cyclinguk.org/group/page/guidelines-safe-riding You will be expected to join Cycling UK after 3 rides.
Do take note of my phone number in case you get separated from the group. 07977 540202 and for new riders, I will collect your details prior to the ride.
If you intend to be a regular rider with us please email icectc.lb@gmail.com with your contact details and a contact number in case of emergency, so that we will have your details available..
Please make sure your bike is roadworthy and that you have 2 spare inner tubes and basic tools to change an inner tube. You will need to have water, money for your lunch and a bike lock. Remember you are riding at your own risk and whilst the group will always try to help out as best as possible with punctures and mechanical problems, you are responsible for looking after yourself and getting yourself home.
See you Sunday,
