Heriot Watt Pond
Event description
Hi all. This Wednesday we will take a route via Dundas Estate, Muirend, Ratho to pause for refreshments at Heriot Watt pond where there are some benches, but it might be an idea to bring something to sit on wet grass. (23 miles) After lunch it’s returning via Baberton, Gogarburn, Turnhouse and Cammo to Cramond where the ride will end. 33 miles in total. This route is all on hard surfaces.

New members are very welcome. We will meet at 9.50 am on the cycle path at Roseburn Bridge, keeping to the west side of the bridge to leave space for other path users. New members can check where our meeting points are on the website

We will ride considerately along the cycle path to Cramond in 3 groups with gaps in between . Once we reach the open roads, we can divide into 2 groups.

Please bring 2 spare inner tubes, pump and basic repair kit, picnic lunch and drinks to keep you going. Please do not forget to check before you start out that your bike is roadworthy, especially the brakes.

Our limit is 9 riders in accordance with the latest advice. We should ride in small groups . It is important to leave large between the groups. Our riding guideline is 50 metres. At junctions the last person in a group should check that the following group has seen where to go. The group will always do their best to help anyone in mechanical difficulty. However, you are ultimately responsible for looking after yourself and getting yourself home.

Please do not email or WhatApp as that makes it impossible to allocate spaces fairly. If you change your mind, please let me know, so another person can take your place.

Please note that by attending a ride:
You are self-certifying that you are well and not required to isolate or quarantine.
You agree to maintain social distancing before, during and after the ride.
You agree not to share food or drink
You will carry a mask and hand sanitiser in case of untoward events, such as mechanicals or accidents.
You agree to follow NHS guidelines if you become unwell after the ride.
You are aware that contact details will be passed to contact tracers if requested.
