Chester & N Wales CTC President's Ride 2022

Event ride

Event description

The Chester and N. Wales CTC president's Ride is a long established, annual event.  It gives an opportunity for riders from all parts of our widely spread Club to meet up socially whilst also enjoying a short ride in either our beautiful Welsh or Cheshire scenery, (venue alternates year on year).  This year, after missing 2 years due to lockdown, it is Cheshire's turn.  A buffet lunch is provided at Tilston War Memorial Hall where the President's Trophy is awarded to a deserving member of or group.

Location & Route

Start finish is at Walk Mill near Waverton.  Car parking is provided from 10:00.  It is essential that all we buy something in the cafe before our group photo at 10:45 and departure at 11:00 to reimburse Walk Mill for providing this facility for us.

Two routes are provided to Tilston---18 miles and 25 miles.

Lunch is at Tilston War Memorial Hall near Malpas from 1:00 pm.

Return to Walk Mill is by one route of 17 miles (or riders may head home after lunch)

The route is all on road but not closed ones! Do take the time to enjoy this tour of our wonderful Cheshire  lanes in the company of your fellow cyclists. Some members who are unable to ride the routes may also wish to attend to meet up with friends at lunch ( and possibly at the cafe for the coffee stop in the morning)

Route sheet and gpx files are to be emailed to you during the week prior to the event.

Groups

Pick your own groups---but please not too large to allow other traffic to get past in our narrow lanes.

Refreshments & stops

Walk Mill has a well stocked cafe.  Lunch is to be a sit down buffet with salad (Meat or Veggie) followed by sweet and tea or coffee.  There is to be water to drink with the meal---anything beyond that you would need to bring with you.  The hall does not have an alcohol licence at this time.

Cycles

You are responsible for using a bicycle in safe, rideable, legal condition. Out of courtesy to other riders we would request that you fit at least an effective rear mudguard and flap if the roads are likely to be wet.

Ebikes can be used on this ride but please bear in mind that you need to have an ebike with adequate range, however that is organised.

 Entry

We welcome all cyclists  to this event.  Minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

If not a member of Cycling UK, you must ensure that ensure that sufficient insurance cover is in place.

The entry fee is £15.00 which includes lunch---but not Walk Mill Cafe.

The fee is non-refundable.

Entries close on 3rd October or when event is full which ever is the earlier
