Blackness Castle

Group ride

Event description

Sunday's ride is to Blackness Castle for a picnic lunch. Please meet at 9.50 am on the west lane of the cycle path on Roseburn Bridge to avoid blocking the path for other users. We will depart at 10 am and head to Cramond, Dalmeny, Hopeton and Blackness via the coastal path. After lunch, (surprise, suprise) we have a wee climb to Philipston and up towards Ecclesmachan. Then a lovely descent via Faucheldean to Kirkliston. The ride finishes at Miller and Carter at Cramond. 29 miles total. https://www.strava.com/routes/2734535439558474060

Please note that the toilets at Blackness and the Castle may not be open.

Text me on 07974113737 if you are coming along. Limit is 15 riders.

Please also read our riding guidelines https://www.cyclinguk.org/group/page/guidelines-safe-riding for your safety and the safety of others in the group.

We will ride as usual in small groups of 5 or 6 and please avoid bunching up at junctions. You should bring 2 spare inner tubes, tools to change and a pump. Also water, a picnic lunch, something waterproof to sit on wet grass and a bike lock.

Remember you are riding at your own risk and whilst the group will always try to help out as best as possible, you are responsible for looking after yourself and getting yourself home.

You should already have emailed me [email protected] to confirm you have read the covid regulations below.

Please note that by attending a ride:

You are self-certifying that you are well and not required to isolate or quarantine.
You agree to maintain social distancing when not cycling. Whilst we are not required by Scottish Cycling to socially distance when riding, we would encourage you to do so.
You agree not to share food or drink
You will carry a mask and hand sanitiser in case of untoward events, such as mechanicals or accidents.
You agree to follow NHS guidelines if you become unwell after the ride.

I am delighted to welcome you back to a Sunday ride.
