Beecraigs country Park

Group ride

Event description

Was to have been to Culross but instead we shall explore the limits of Lothian Health Board. We will meet at Roseburn Path, on the bridge crossing the main road, at 9.50 am for a 10 am start, though will pick up at Cramond Brig. The lunch stop will be at Beecraigs, there being various picnic areas where we can eat in accordance wi' t'rules. However, the great unwashed could be making the most of things before the clocks change, thus making it a bit tight, so we shall see how it goes. There is a cafe there for those who require takeaway. I'm not aware of any battery charging facilities at the picnic spots...........
I've yet to plot a detailed route but there will be a mix of cycle paths and road. The run is likely to end somewhere in the west of Edinburgh in the Sighthill/Broomhouse area rather than return via Cramond Brig and won't be too much over thirty miles or so.
Text me on 079348 40556 if you wish to attend. Limit is 15 riders, but I will start a waiting list if need be. Also note the instructions below on Covid regulations. Though, with 15 of us, it won't be considerate to other road users to fully adopt the conclusions reached, conscience demands that I draw your attention to this https://road.cc/content/news/experts-set-out-distance-leave-riders-ahea…. I'll be at the front.
Please also read and comply with our riding guidelines https://www.cyclinguk.org/group/page/guidelines-safe-riding for your safety and that of others in the group. Please do not forget to check, before you start, that your bike is roadworthy especially the brakes. Always ride safely and in line with the Highway Code.
We will ride, as usual, in small groups of around 5; please avoid bunching up at junctions but ensure that those behind know which way the group has gone (this applies particularly to those who were on Gordon's run last Sunday☺). You should bring 2 spare inner tubes, tools to change same, and a pump. Also, water, snacks to keep you going, means of buying lunch or a picnic lunch.
Remember you are riding at your own risk and, whilst the group will always try to help as best as possible, you are responsible for looking after yourself and getting yourself home.
You should already have emailed Janet (ironside@blueyonder.co.uk) to confirm you have read the Covid-19 regulations below otherwise you will not be allowed to ride.
Please note that by attending a ride:
You are self-certifying that you are well and not required to isolate or quarantine.
You agree to maintain social distancing when not cycling. Whilst we are not required by Scottish Cycling to socially distance when riding, we would encourage you to do so.
You agree not to share food or drink
You will carry a mask and hand sanitiser in case of untoward events, such as mechanicals or accidents.
You agree to follow NHS guidelines if you become unwell after the ride.
Cheers
Peter V
