Description
A picturesque Brevet Populaire in the Yorkshire Dales with a sedate minimum speed of just 10kph.
This year it is back to the Victoria Institute in Caton for the start and finish, so the entry price of £16.00 includes breakfast and supper (Vegan and free options too) and also a distinctive sew on cloth event badge. Controls are either via eBrevet or commercial and info and there will instant validation on the day.
From Caton along mainly quiet lanes to Settle. From here you might come across riders on 'A Bit Dented 150' and 'Stumped and Dented 200' but there is a bit of a route change from last year. Due to a landslip and road closure in Dentdale, all three routes go to Dent via a new control at Ingleton via Clapham followed by a climb of spectacular Kingsdale and great descent of Deepdale. The climb from Dent is steep and short but rewarded with a long descent of beautiful Barbondale followed by a few flatter km to the end.
There are also two Audax events run by another organiser on Sunday 27th April in nearby Wray. Why not make it a Forest of Bowland/Yorkshire Dales weekend extravaganza of cycling?
Caton is easy to get to, being just 8km from Lancaster which is situated on the West Coast Mainline and adjacent to the M6 motorway. There are a number of budget hotels in the area.
