The ride this coming Sunday 28th April is a shortish one of 38miles to Aberdour and lunch at the Silversands Cafe.
Please meet on the cycle path at the Roseburn Bridge where it crosses the main Corstorphine Road at 9.50am for a 10am start. We head out on the well known route 76 which takes us thru Dalmeny and over the FRB , we shall have a comfort break at the park and ride. Once thru Inverkeithing we turn right down Hillend road which meets the A921 but we can stay on the cycle path as far as the Hillend Industrial Estate which we weave our way thru avoiding the A921. However we eventually meet this busy road for a short time to reach Aberdour and our lunch stop. (17 miles)
I have reserved a table in the cafe which serves a delicious selection of sandwiches, soup ,tea and coffee but there is the option to sit outside and eat your packed lunch.
Our return is on route 76 following the coast thru Dalgety Bay retracing our morning route back to Crammond and Roseburn .
Riding in a group requires consideration for others in the group. Our riding guidelines are essential reading prior to coming out on the ride to ensure safety for yourself and the other riders. https://www.cyclinguk.org/group/page/guidelines-safe-riding
Please ride in groups with football pitch sized gaps between and at any turns, make sure the person behind sees you or stop till they catch you up. Please take note of my phone number 07855452415 in case you get separated from the group.
Please ensure your bike is roadworthy, and that you carry 2 spare inner tubes and basic tools to change.
In accordance with good riding practice you should carry emergency contact details both on your person (card in wallet/purse, ICE on mobile) and in your bike bag.
While experienced group members will always give assistance and advice to other riders ultimately you are responsible for yourself and making your own way home. An attendance sheet will be completed on the morning. The ride is primarily for Cycling UK members. Non-members are very welcome but would be expected to join Cycling UK after 3 rides.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday the weather as I write this is forecast for sunny intervals and a gentle breeze.
