Skedaddle stories: Top 7 cycling destinations for 2027

With 2026 coming to a close, are you planning your next cycling adventure? Adam, Head of Customer Experience at our official holiday partner, Saddle Skedaddle, shares his top routes to try in 2027

Whittling down 180 itineraries to seven top destinations is not easy! However, there are good reasons why our bestsellers stand out from the rest.

Whether you’re looking to book a supported tour with Skedaddle or simply want to get some inspiration for a DIY holiday, here are my top seven to get you started. I’ve chosen them for their seasonality, uniqueness and feeling of riding off the tourist trail.

1. Cycle the UK end-to-end by electric bike

Land’s End to John o’ Groats is a classic end-to-end challenge ride. We’ve been running LEJOG tours for 16 years, and in that time we’ve supported more than 1,000 people to make this 1,000-mile iconic journey.

In 2025, we expanded our LEJOG range with the introduction of an e-bike tour. It’s been hugely popular, and 2027 tour dates are already filling up. Cycling LEJOG on an electric bike is still a big challenge and I love that the added battery boost is opening it up to even more people.

What sets a Skedaddle LEJOG apart? Aside from the expert support and small group size on tour, it has to be our unique route that we are frequently told delivers days of scenic cycling along peaceful backroads. We’ve been refining it for 15 years, and we’re extremely proud of what we have created!

2. Ride into the wild in Dumfries and Galloway

In June this year, we launched our new Galloway Gravel Escape alongside Cycling UK’s exciting Gallovidian Gravel route. It combines the freedom of gravel riding with the support and camaraderie of a guided group holiday.

This blissfully quiet corner of southern Scotland feels a world away from everyday life, offering empty trails, spectacular scenery and a genuine sense of escape. A few of the Skedaddle team have explored these routes and can vouch for just how special they are.

Interested, but looking for something a little less technically demanding? We also recently launched a guided leisure cycling holiday, The Heart of Galloway. This gives riders a chance to explore further west in Dumfries and Galloway, and try their hand at a less technical off-road section of the Gallovidian Gravel.

3. Relax and ride in one of Spain’s quieter costas

The Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light) is a beautiful stretch of coastline in southern Spain that takes in one of Europe’s oldest cities, Cádiz. It’s a stone’s throw from our Skedaddle España home in Tarifa!

While many cyclists head to Mallorca, those in the know are drawn to this lesser-visited corner of Andalucia, where authentic local culture, whitewashed hill towns, traditional tapas bars and sweeping Atlantic beaches create a distinctly Spanish experience.

Andalucia is the perfect place to extend your cycling season with a spring or autumn escape. Whether you want to relax on an electric bike or try some of the local gravel trails, you can either join a group tour or go self-guided with your riding partner.

Road cyclists can also sample a day of cycling along the Costa de la Luz on our newest self-guided tour, Sierras to the Sea. Seeking more Spanish cycling routes? Take a look here.

4. Go island hopping in Scandinavia

Why not escape to Sweden for a summer ‘coolcation’ and discover an island paradise? Since it launched last year, Stockholm’s Archipelago has become one of our bestsellers, and the region was named one of National Geographic’s top 25 places to visit in 2025.

This island-hopping tour explores nature reserves, lakeside paths, beaches and colourful harbour towns, with plenty of classic Swedish cake and coffee stops (known locally as Fika).

If you prefer the idea of a point-to-point journey, then you could also ride the Kattegattleden, Sweden’s first national cycle path up the west coast. This is another firm favourite with Skedaddlers with self-guided and guided options now available (this group tour is new for 2027).

5. Conquer a coast-to-coast challenge in southern Italy

If you’re looking for a rewarding road cycling journey away from the crowds, our epic coast-to-coast ride from Puglia to Cilento is particularly special.

Ancient Greek temples, historic whitewashed villages and the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Alberobello and Matera add to the breathtaking landscapes of rolling hills, plateaus and rocky outcrops of the Dolomiti Lucane, which lie between two beautiful coastlines along the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian Seas.

Italy is another great place to extend your cycling season in spring or autumn. See Skedaddle’s full range of cycling trips in Italy.

6. Trace the stories and legends beyond the Silk Road in Uzbekistan

If you like the idea of escaping to a far-flung destination, this unique cycling adventure traces the fascinating history of the Silk Road and Uzbekistan. Over two weeks, you’ll explore a mythical land shrouded in stories and legends, taking in the culture and heritage of Samarkand, Bukhara and the ancient citadel of Alexander the Great in Nurata.

Skedaddlers tell us that what lies beyond the cities, however, is the real highlight: a cycling journey with epic vistas of deserts, mountains, lush valleys and turquoise lakes.

7. Push your mountain-biking skills in the Spanish Pyrenees

If you’re a keen mountain biker, then I’d encourage you to ride beyond the bike park in 2027 and go on an adventure in the Spanish Pyrenees. The Pyrenees All Mountain Traverse is the perfect mountain biking holiday for singletrack lovers who want to test their skills on endless jaw-dropping trails.

Created by our Head of España, Dan, he packs two decades of riding knowledge from the region into a fun-filled week that makes the best of the trails and your riding skills. Choose our regular tour with some extra support from van uplift for the bigger ascents or opt for an e-MTB departure.
