Rachel Norman is part of Cycling UK's 100 Women in Cycling 2018 list for starting a successful and social women’s mountain biking group in the Peak District.

Rachel organises women’s social mountain bike rides with her partner that start from Café Adventure in Hope in the Peak District. The plan was to focus the rides on encouraging ladies who are new to mountain biking in a relaxed and friendly environment with no pressure.

Rachel says, “My first women’s ride was in November 2016 and since then the group has grown and grown. We now have over 200 members in our Facebook group, a core group of regular riders, and an average of 10 women at each ride over the winter and over 20 during the summer months.”

Rachel has also organised other events for the group including maintenance workshops, skills coaching, weekends away and social nights.

Rachel’s favourites aspects include: “Meeting other women who share the same passion and just having a good laugh, with big smiles while riding in the great outdoors.”

Cycling UK’s 100 Women in Cycling is an annual list celebrating inspirational women who are encouraging others to take part in this wonderful and life-enhancing activity.
