Mandy Parker is part of Cycling UK's 100 Women in Cycling 2019 for the incredible impact she has on young cyclists as a regional and national cycling coach.

Fifteen years ago, Mandy’s son indirectly introduced the family to the world of cycling. When at six years old he joined the East Bradford Cycling Club and enthusiastically threw himself into every cycling competition there was from road, cyclo-cross, mountain bike and track.

Since then time Mandy has got increasingly involved with the local community actively promoting the sport.

Mandy began coaching after the chief coach, Mike Healey suggested that as she was good with kids, she would make a great teacher so, as a serial volunteer, Mandy decided to give it a go.

During her volunteer journey, Mandy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and she is now secondary progressive but is still volunteering and helping to train new up and coming cyclists.

Mandy is now involved in coaching older riders at regional and national level. In addition, Mandy is also the membership and development secretary of East Bradford Cycling Club, organiser of the West Riding Track League, race organiser, an active committee member of the Yorkshire Cyclo-Cross Association, White Rose Youth league, Yorkshire Board member, committee member of Shibden CC and the secretary of the British Schools Cycling Association.

It gives me such a great feeling of satisfaction and immense pride in having a small part in their cycling journey wherever it takes them

“It gives me such a great feeling of satisfaction and immense pride in having a small part in their cycling journey wherever it takes them."

Mandy was nominated to be one of the 100 Women in Cycling by Tania Rook who said: “She is just awesome. She won an unsung hero award last year. She deserves much more recognition for all of the work she does and the passion she shows.”
