Lynne Armstrong is part of Cycling UK's 100 Women in Cycling 2018 list for supporting female mountain bikers of all abilities through her company Air Maiden.

Lynne Armstrong founded and runs a women’s mountain bike coaching and events company called Air Maiden, which is based in Scotland. It has a team of coaches throughout the country, running skills days and activities for women across the UK.

Lynne has been riding mountain bikes for over 14 years, and time spent riding in events in Canada showed her the future of the sport for women in the UK. Air Maiden events provide a chance for women to get coaching on skills they wouldn’t normally tackle, such as jumping, drop offs and cornering, but in a supportive and relaxed environment. In 2016, Lynne organised her first all-women’s enduro race at the infamous ‘Golfie’ trails, which between the two events saw over 120 women taking part.

I get a buzz from watching women conquer their fears and progress their riding.

Lynne says, “I get a buzz from watching women conquer their fears and progress their riding.  And I love it when our events and skills days result in more women networking and meeting new riding friends.”

Lynne also provides small group coaching clinics to women ranging from beginner to advanced skill level, sharing her knowledge and experience with women both new to the sport and those wanting to take their riding to the next level.

Cycling UK’s 100 Women in Cycling is an annual list celebrating inspirational women who are encouraging others to take part in this wonderful and life-enhancing activity.
