Lisa Chapman - Runner-up

Volunteer Awards 2018
Lisa Chapman and Fleet Cycling donating money raised from the Fleet Flyer to Transplant Sport
Lisa Chapman was shortlisted in the Exceptional Individual - Cycling Programme category for Cycling UK's 2018 Volunteer of the Year Awards.

In November last year, Lisa was elected as Publicity Officer for Fleet Cycling. Since then she has thrown herself into her role to deliver amazing results for the Club.

Since the beginning of the year there has been a 70% increase in riders on the first Sunday of each month, and a 25% increase in regular riders at the weekly regular rides. After Lisa took on publicity for a charity ride Fleet Cycling ran in May, over 300 people entered, and on top of Lisa was able to secure sponsorship from major and local companies. Fleet Cycling raised a total of £6000 for Transplant Sport, and Berkshire Cancer Care Charity Fund, and Lisa took care of the publicity for that too - she arranged a presentation event and a publicity pack was sent to local media.

Her dedication to publicity led to her putting up posters for the Fleet Flyer in the pouring rain - but her efforts paid off. Fleet Cycling were inundated with entries on the day of the event, all as a result of her hard work.

Cycling UK is therefore very pleased to recognise Lisa's huge contribution in getting the word out about Fleet Cycling's work, and encouraging more people to join in with their local club to get cycling.

Cycling UK's Volunteer of the Year Awards are given annually to recognise and celebrate all the incredible work volunteers do in encouraging others to start cycling and keep cycling.
