Clare Rankin
Clare Rankin is part of Cycling UK's 100 Women in Cycling 2018 list for years of backing Cambridgeshire’s cyclists.

Clare has been working on projects and initiatives in Cambridge to promote cycling for over 15 years. She was initially the Cycling and Walking Officer for Cambridge City Council, but now works for Cambridgeshire County Council. She pushes for better cycling infrastructure and resources, to help persuade more local people to choose cycling.

Clare's achievements are varied but include: working to allow cycle exemptions to one-way streets, working with developers to get the very best provision for cyclists in new developments, fighting for cycle parking, organising cycling festivals, the introduction of a free pushchair scheme for cycling parents, and producing cycle maps (including a multi-language version), as well as countless other things!

And Clare always leads by example – riding her bike everywhere, complete with wicker basket.

Cycling UK’s 100 Women in Cycling is an annual list celebrating inspirational women who are encouraging others to take part in this wonderful and life-enhancing activity.
