The Women's Festival of Cycling

The Women's Festival of Cycling

It's easy to register a ride or event for the festival and nominate somebody for our 100 Women in Cycling .
Women are often underrepresented when it comes to cycling. The reasons for this are complex but the physical and mental health and well-being benefits of taking part for women are especially high, not to mention the fact that it is time and money saving too! Some women need extra encouragement to start and continue cycling, while many others just enjoy riding in female company so, after last year's successful inaugural event, Cycling UK is again organising the Women's Festival of Cycling, which takes place throughout the UK this July. We are calling on everybody, from cycling groups and clubs to individuals to register a ride and inspire others to take part in this wonderful activity.

Register your ride

After last year's successful first Women's Festival of Cycling, throughout the month of July 2018 Cycling UK will be celebrating women who love cycling, and encouraging many more to take up and continue cycling. The festival will include female-friendly and women-only cycle rides and events all round the country, ranging from just a few miles with a coffee and cake stop to longer endurance rides, both on and off-road. We encourage anybody, whether Cycling UK groups or not, or just individuals who are not part of any group, to register their women-only and female-friendly rides and events throughout July 2018 to join in with the celebrations. It's free to register and all ride and event organisers will benefit from our £10 million Organisers' Liability insurance (terms and conditions apply). Find out how to register below.

Do you know a woman who inspires others to cycle?

Alongside the festival, our 100 Women in Cycling list, which will be announced in early July, will shine a spotlight on all those women who inspire others to take part in the activity, whether they are historical figures, working in the industry, bike mechanics, cycle campaigners and ride leaders, or even if they just really enjoy riding their bikes.

In 2018, we will again be profiling the many women riders and supporters of cycling, both within and outside of Cycling UK. Our 100 Women in Cycling list is made up of women who inspire others to take up the activity but who may or may not be well-known in cycling or the world at large.

Nominate anybody you feel deserves a bit of recognition for what they do in encouraging other women to get involved in an activity in which they are still underrepresented. The final list will be announced in early July 2018. Find out who was on our list in 2017 below.
