Belles on Bikes

Belles on Bikes is a network of inclusive women's cycling groups in Scotland. The groups are run by volunteers who support other women to get cycling in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Belles on Bikes offers free rides for women of different backgrounds and abilities. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or you’ve been cycling for years – as long as you can ride a bike you’ll find a cycling home with the Belles!

There are 12 independent Belles on Bikes groups across Scotland. Each group is run by volunteers who are passionate about supporting other women to enjoy cycling, so you can be sure of a warm welcome.

Groups hold a variety of rides, from leisurely paced jaunts to longer routes heading further afield. Rides tend to stick to quiet and traffic-free routes where possible, although there’ll be opportunities to build confidence riding on roads too. All you need is a bike in working order, a decent waterproof (this is Scotland after all) and a sense of fun.

Each group is run locally, but with the same ethos: to empower women, increase cycling confidence and a create social safe space. Belles volunteer leaders receive training in ride leading, first aid and basic bike maintenance – so they have all the skills to organise great rides and keep everyone safe.
