Nicola joined Cycling UK in January 2019 to help generate more income to get millions more people cycling.
She moved from Save the Children where she had a number of roles spanning strategy, change management, programmes, fundraising and communications.
As Deputy Director for Save the Children's UK work, Nicola developed strategic partnerships with companies to meet both business and charitable objectives, developed tailored propositions for philanthropists and also redesigned the supporter journey for the charity's regular givers to their UK work.
The programmes focussed on disadvantaged communities across all four nations of the UK which has given Nicola a deep understanding of the challenges faced by such communities. But more importantly, she understands that, with a little support, every community has the passion and skills to help change their futures.
I'm passionate about the difference that cycling can make right across the UK - with a little support we can get every community cycling!
Nicola Marshall, Cycling UK Director of Income Generation
Over the first half of 2019, Nicola will be working with staff, volunteers, members and partners to create Cycling UK's first income generation strategy. She will be ensuring that the strategy supports and complements every aspect of the charity's policy, campaigns and behaviour change work. She will focus on strengthening the relationship with members, developing a menu of opportunities for corporate partners and exploring new ways to generate income.
Nicola is herself a keen cyclist, having commuted across London for many years, dabbled with triathlon and now at the beginning of a 'roadie' journey. She's back commuting too, this time on a Brompton that fits neatly on the train. She feels very lucky to cycle through the fields and commons of Surrey every day on her way to work and is passionate about getting as many people to enjoy the same experience across the UK.
