Join our Big Bike Celebration

Cycling UK's annual get together is happening in Harrogate on 6 October!

Join our Big Bike Celebration

Come and be inspired about all things cycling and help celebrate our 140th birthday!

Each year at our 'Big Bike Celebration', Cycling UK brings together our marvellous members, valued volunteers and superb supporters as we celebrate achievements over the last 12 months and look ahead to future ambitions.

This year, we are also celebrating our 140th birthday, so it was timely to return to where we were founded by Stanley Cotterell in 1878 - Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Join us on Saturday 6 October 2018 for our fourth member’s conference, covering a broad range of topics and how we can get a million more people cycling - particularly its power to impact society, communities and improve physical and mental health.

We're delighted to welcome a number of fantastic speakers including; cycling advocate Dan Jarvis, Sheffield City Region Mayor and MP for Barnsley Central; inspiring adventurer Natalie Wilson, the first disabled female trike cyclist to circumnavigate the entire coastline of Great Britain; MP for York Central Rachael Maskell and MD of West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Ben Still.

Plus, we will be thanking and congratulating some special individuals, clubs, groups and projects that are tirelessly volunteering their time and energy with our Volunteers of the Year Awards.

Our get together wouldn't be complete without a bike ride, so we're delighted that Wheel Easy cycling club is leading a leisurely ride via some impressive Harrogate landmarks to finish the day.

Hosted at Cedar Court Hotel, we will be taking a step back in time with a special showcase of how bikes have developed through the decades, with some help from Bygone Bykes in Yorkshire! Cycles, clothing and equipment may have evolved hugely since our early years, but we remain the cyclists' champion campaigning for improvements and raising the profile of projects and activities that empower people to cycle.

From 9.45am to 3.45pm, it will be a great day of insights, stories, experiences and fun.
