Could you be Cycling UK's finance adviser?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Advisor to the Board of Trustees at Cycling UK.

It’s an incredibly important time in the charity’s history, as we celebrate our 140th anniversary and embark on a new five-year strategy to encourage millions more people to cycle, while protecting and fighting for the rights of cyclists everywhere.

To help us in the right direction, the Board engages two permanent Advisors to guide it on legal and financial matters. A vacancy has arisen for a Finance Advisor to join our board.

The role involves providing advice on the financial affairs of Cycling UK, dealing with bankers, funders and major contractors and to advise the board on the implications of its strategy and policy objectives.

If you think you have the necessary skills, we want to hear from you.

What Cycling UK does

We’re in our fourth year of our Big Bike Revival, with an ambitious target of putting 25,000 people back in the saddle; we run more than 150 community cycle clubs, reaching around 12,000 people; we put on the annual Bike Week event, and ran our second Women’s Festival of Cycling.

We support more than 1,000 groups and put on more than a dozen Challenge Rides.

We’ve been working hard on securing rural access in Wales for our Trails for Wales campaign, supporting police forces tackle ‘close pass’ incidents by providing educational mats and most recently, we’re lobbying central Government as it embarks on a review of cycle safety and offences.

In Scotland, we’ve secured double the amount of our funding for cycling, we’re enabling a more diverse and active volunteer force to help us achieve our aims, and we're regularly called on by the national media to comment and provide expert advice on a whole range of cycling issues.

What it means to be an Advisor to our Board of Trustees

We’ve been working hard to improve our governance and assemble a lean, highly-skilled Board able to provide clear, strategic direction.

We are keen to have a diverse and inclusive Board with people coming from a wide range of backgrounds, places and perspectives, and we welcome applications from younger people, women and ethnic minorities.

Our expert advisors are vital to our continued success and our application pack explains what we are looking for and how to find out further information.

In return for your passion, commitment and skills, we can offer you the chance to make a significant difference to cycling in the UK. We want to hear from you if you if you think you have what it takes to put our values – open, bold and enquiring – into action.

The deadline for applications is 9am on 31 October 2018
