Chelmsford Chainlinks are a group formed from a CTC project to encourage people who hadn't cycled for some time to get back on a bike.
Most of us hadn't cycled for years but we enjoyed it so much that we kept on cycling and there's now often over 20 or 30 of us going out each week.
Our rides are gentle and relaxed and we always have experienced ride leaders to take the rides, supported by a growing band of volunteers who've gone through the CTC Ride Supporter training. We started riding just a few miles around town but are now able to explore the lovely countryside around and have found lots of great cafes and watering holes to stop at. We never forget what it's like to go on that first ride and make sure we only do what everybody can manage, so that everyone returns with a smile on their face.
We have rides start every Thursday, starting at 10am from Cake at the Lake, Central Park.
We have also supported Cycling UK's learn to ride confidence sessions and have been inspired by adults who are learning to ride a bike for the first time, especially when they reach the magic moment when they cycle off totally unaided.
This is a great project and we'd love you to join us on the ride.
