About us

Liferiders is founded on the simple belief that riding bikes together helps us to feel better.

We wrap support around people to enable them to start enjoying cycling, with 1-2-1 home visits to help to make your bike roadworthy and answer any questions, easy traffic-free rides along cycle paths to a cafe, mechanical help just in case. Also it's totally FREE if you need it to be - we are powered by donations-only !

We choose cake over carbon, slo-mo over aero and laughter over lycra. We believe that cycling together builds strong friendships, creates a sense of adventure, connects us to nature - tapping into a source of wonderful social, mental and physical wellbeing.

For more information and mental health resources please visit our website: www.liferiders.org

We would love you to join us on Facebook (search Liferiders Community Cycling Project)  Twitter (@LiferidersCBAD)  and we have a lovely Whats App group

Information about the group rides

Our group rides take in the beautiful countryside surrounding Harrogate. We are blessed with a cycle-path connecting Harrogate-Bilton-Ripley and Knaresborough.

We have also figured out a 'Tour de Harrogate' on quiet suburban roads and paths avoiding main roads.

(PLEASE NOTE: All participants ride at their own risk - we abide by the Ride Social Ts&Cs from British Cycling which means we're a group of friends riding togetherw without an official 'leader'. Please ensure you are aware of the medical and legal risks of cycling, you're comfortable cycling safely on the road and abiding by the Highway Code)

When we're not dealing with a pandemic, Liferiders have 2 rides per week:

Sunday afternoon - an easy ride to Ripley Tea Rooms and back

Wednesday evenings - routes vary - a chance to get out in the dark as a group and enjoy the wonders of night-riding (seasonally dependent)

Harrogate is situated on a hill - but we're chatting so much we get used to them (or walk up them!) Either way - no-one is under any pressure to keep going - we just stop and rest whenever we choose ! The emphasis is on having fun rather than suffering :)

Waterproofs and bike lights are often a must.
