Put simply, we love to cycle – whether that’s on the road, on a disused railway track or along a canal towpath. If it’s rideable, we’ll ride it! We love riding out with all kinds of people too – both children and adults, complete beginners or the more experienced rider. As British Cycling ride leaders, we carry full insurance for all of our rides, so you know you’re being well looked after. We plan all our own routes, most of which we have ridden for the past two or three years, so we know them well (and most importantly, where all the good coffee/cake stops are!).
We currently lead a ride on a Wednesday night (leaving the War Memorial in Walmley at 7pm) and we will shortly be introducing family rides on Saturday afternoons (with a stop for ice cream of course!) and Saturday/Sunday morning rides with stops for coffee and cake.
We’re not fussed how far we ride either. Our Wednesday ride is circa 20 miles and the family rides are around 4 miles. However, we will put all day rides on as well – covering as far as people want to go – anything from 30/40 miles, up to 100 miles, so there’s something for everyone. Speed wise, we can go as slow or as fast as you like. Family rides will be at a pace of the slowest rider (this could be a child as young as 3 or 4). Adult rides can range anything from 12 mph to 17/18 mph depending on the ability of the group.
Want to come out on a family ride, but one of your children can’t ride without stabilisers yet? No problem! We are Bikeability instructors and can teach your child to ride without the aid of stabilisers. Believe it or not, it usually takes only an hour!
