About us

We are a club based in Aylesbury, Bucks that runs a range of adult cycle rides catering for a wide range of ability and interest. We believe that cycling is for all, whether you just want to try a short leisure ride, or prefer something more challenging.

Newcomers is a shorter ride of 15 to 20 miles at a nice easy pace of 8 to 10 miles an hour. It is the best group to start with.

Easy Pace is a longer ride of about 30 miles and around 10 to 12 miles an hour.  This group is for regular riders who would like to do a bit more.

Step up is a longer and faster ride of up to 45 miles at 12 to 14 miles an hour and for stronger riders who want to push themselves.

Moderate is our fast group for more energetic riders and can be around 50 miles at 14+ miles an hour.

Group riding is a great way of exploring the lovely Bucks countryside, keeping fit and meeting like-minded people. Rides are social and there’s a coffee stop half way! It’s also a safe way to ride with experienced leaders, nobody gets left behind and somebody will be able to help fix a puncture or help with any problems.

For Newcomers any serviceable bike will do. Bring a spare tube, a drink, suitable clothing including a waterproof and money for tea! For Easy Pace and other groups, a bike with a good range of gears is  recommended. A helmet is a good idea but not compulsory.

We offer a choice of led rides on Sundays, occasional cycling holidays and monthly social gatherings which are shown on the Rides List.  We have also enjoyed Christmas socials, a summer BBQ and a couple of quizzes; anything that members want that someone is willing to organise!
https://www.southbucksmidweekcycling.org/ is also part of Cycling UK and some of us also take part in their rides on Wednesdays and Coffee Pot meets on Fridays.

We have had some bike workshop sessions to show members how to mend punctures and make adjustments to brakes and gears.  Other advice on route planning and navigation aids like GPS units is available; please contact us.

We have a Facebook group which is a good way of keeping in contact with other members, asking questions and sharing cycling related information.  You have to have a Facebook profile yourself to be able to see the page and to protect everyone's privacy it is a closed group.  Having said that, all local cyclists, members and prospective members are welcome.

We have a Strava Club group where you can see where others are riding, find possible riding companions and get ideas for your own rides.  If you are competitive you can see who is fastest up local hills.
