Romannobridge

Wednesday’s ride is to the Newlands Activity Centre (attached to school) at Romano Bridge. We shall eat our lunch here and have an afternoon stop at Dolly’s cafe in Roslin. The total distance is 47 miles. 

We shall meet at 9.50 am for a 10 am departure from the Charwood grill restaurant car park, Fairmilehead.

We shall then follow the Biggar road over the city bypass and turn onto the old Pentland/ Pentland road. At the traffic lights we go straight over, then turn right and cycle through a housing estate for a toilet stop at Station road Loanhead.

We then take the cycle path and road through Roslin and continue towards Auchendinny before turning left and following the cycle path towards Rosewell. We turn right onto the A6094 for a steady climb continuing up to Mount Lothian. Here we turn right onto the B6372 and then have a steep downhill towards Penicuik. We briefly join the A701 before turning onto the Auchencorth Moss road to West Linton. We then turn right at the tea shop and onwards to Romanno bridge (27miles).

We return via West Linton and towards Penicuik, then joining the cycle path to Auchendinny and road to Roslin for our afternoon stop at Dolly’s.. After cafe stop I imagine we may go our separate ways home. I shall lead back to our start point retracing our outward route. (47miles total).

The route is on road and cycle paths some of which can be rough in places and may be slippy with wet leaves.

Do come prepared for all weather. 

Bring lunch, water and money. Ensure your bike is roadworthy and bring a repair kit, two spare inner tubes, pump ,front and back lights and lock.  

Remember you are riding at your own risk and whilst  members will try to assist if you have a problem during the ride, ultimately you are responsible for getting yourself and bike home.
