Polkemmet Country Park

Group ride

Event description

On Wednesday, you have a choice! I am leading a ride to Polkemmet but Gordon will be doing a shorter ride with a café stop at Veitch’s in East Calder.

We all meet at Redhall Park 9.50 am for 10 am departure. We will head out to Livingston via Heriot Watt (toilet stop), Kirknewton, and East Calder. At Livingston Village we will part company and Gordon will head back via the Waverley Path to Dedridge, then East Calder for potential coffee stop (19 miles), Clifton Road, Ratho and finish at Hermiston Gate. (27 miles). Depending on numbers he might be able to book table(s) at Veitch’s Garden centre café.

Those continuing to Polkemmet will follow the pleasant NCN Route 75 through Bathgate to Harthill and Polkemmet for a late lunch. (another 15 miles-29 in total). There is a café and toilets and out-door tables but mindful of the current regulations, we should disperse in small groups for our picnic. After lunch we have a short climb to Longride then a lovely descent to the outskirts of Livingston, where we will follow the same route via Waverley Path, East Calder, Ratho and finish at Hermiston Gate. (52 Miles total) The pace will be moderate as we are riding on a cycle paths for some of the time although they are all hard surfaces.
