Hello all,

The ride on the 22nd December is 37 miles stopping at Haddington for lunch.

Please meet at Fisherrow Harbour, Musselburgh at 9.50am fo r a 10am start.

We will make our way along the seafront to Port Seton where we can use the opportunity for a comfort stop. Then make our way up to St. Germains and over the level crossing.

Next it's the well-worn path to Bangly Hill and to Athelstaneford where we pick up the B1343 and then we are going to pick up the B13 47 towards Abbey Toll where we cross the A199 to pick up cycle route 76 into Haddington where we will stop for lunch at Diggory's.

After lunch we carry on along route 76 turning right to pick up the Haddington-Longniddry cycle path where we come off at Cottyburn Siding. Then we take a left turn to the level crossing at St. Germains where we cross over and retrace our steps to Prestonpans where we join the John Muir Way back to our starting point at Fisherrow.

Here is the route: https://www.strava.com/routes/22900729

We will be on tarmac or hard surfaces for almost all of this ride except for the Haddington path and the John Muir Way which is, however, suitable for all cycles, but take great care where there might be patches of wet leaves or moss making the su rface slippery.

Everyone is very welcome to attend but for riders new to the group, our riding guidelines on the following link are essential reading prior to coming out on the ride to ensure safety for yourself and the other riders. https://www.cyclinguk.org/group/page/guidelines-safe-riding You will be expected to join Cycling UK after 3 rides.

Do take note of my phone number in case you get separated from the group 07792 278468 and for new riders, I will collect your details prior to the ride. If you intend to be a regular rider with us please email icectc.lb@gmail.com with your contact details and a contact number in case of emergency, so that we will have your details available.

Please make sure your bike is roadworthy and that you have 2 spare inner tubes and basic tools to change an inner tube. Do take note of the weather and dress accordingly! You will need to have water, money for lunch and a bike lock. Remember you are riding at your own risk and whilst the group will always try to help out as best as possible with punctures and mechanical problems, you are responsible for looking after yourself and getting yourself home.

See you on Sunday,

Heather
