G H Stancer Memorial Ride

Event ride

Event description

George Herbert Stancer was an early pioneer of cycling and an early secretary of the Cyclists' Touring Club (CTC). He was born in Pocklington. A series of rides from across the region converge on Burnby Hall Gardens, Pocklington for lunch. This ride from Malton, is nominally 50 miles in 6 hours, including a stop in Pocklington. Although this ride is not organised by CTC/CUK, we have traditionally included it as a qualifying ride for our awards scheme. There should be time for a second stop for tea/coffee at Thixendale on the way back.

A route sheet is attached. Electronic route at www.ridewithgps.com/routes/38555759

The entry fee of £5 includes 'free' entry to Burnby Hall Gardens, where food and drink will be available.
