Edinburgh World Naked Bike Ride.

Event
Bike Week
Description

Part of the World Naked Bike Ride, a worldwide, clothing optional, protest against oil dependency, car culture, and for cycling and other sustainable transport. Also a celebration of body positivity.
We ride naked to highlight the vulnerability of cyclists in traffic. Body paint, slogans and fancy dress are also encouraged! The route takes us from The Meadows park, through Holyrood park in the shadow of Arthur's Seat, then via the old Town and New Town, past the Historic castle, and back to the Meadows. It takes a little over an hour to complete.
Meet from 1300 for a 1400 start.

This year the option to be naked is confirmed. The Police will not make us dress as long as we are just riding our bikes as part of an environmental/cycling protest.
If you aren't comfortable naked, fancy dress is fine. Bodypaint is supplied, and we hope to have a body painting session beforehand, probably in a nearby cafe from about 1130.
Strip off! Paint up! Protest for a cleaner world!
The Route.
About 8.16-8.75 Km (5.07-5.44 Mi) 170 m (558 feet) of up and down.If you have a bike with lots of gears, it's fine. If no gears or only 3 the Royal Mile and Johnston Terrace are the crux points! We do have built in stops for the ride to regroup. We don't leave people behind without checking if they are ok and have a plan. We will have a small amount of cover up stuff available. If just slow, we wait for people to catch up. There is a marshall tasked with being the tail end Charlie.
1300 meet, Paint up, ride at 1400.
