East Linton

Group ride

Event description

Hi Everyone.  Kristine is not feeling well, so I will lead her ride instead.  Starting at Fisherrow Harbour at 10am as before.  I will do a slightly altered route which is the GPX below.  We head out along the coast as far as Longniddry, then cycle path to Haddington. Then to East Linton for lunch at 20 miles. Direct route home via Athelstaneford and Preston Pans returning to the coast road via Drummhor House Road.  Weather on Sunday looking not to bad, maybe some rain in the afternoon, but the wind looks much lighter.  See you there. ******************************************************************************************************************

The ride this coming Sunday is from Fisherrow to East Linton and back.

Total round trip 42.5 miles.

We’ll meet at Fisherrow in good time for a 10 o’clock departure.

Regarding the way my route goes on the way out, we won’t be passing any toilet facilities but as there are good such facilities at FR hopefully that will be ok.

We leave FR, cycle along the seafront, on to the busy road for a bit before turning right going out to the B1361. We follow this heading east to the level crossing. We’ll then enjoy quiet roads to Samuelston. Here we’ll turn left towards Haddington. However we’ll take a first right, then a first left riding on mostly quiet roads east-ward to East Linton - 22.5 miles.

We’ll have lunch at The Mart where they have a cafe (they’ll put aside table/s for us). There’ll  be a market on outside.

The return leg is a fairly westward affair : up through East Linton, then first left and riding on mostly quiet roads to Athelstaneford. From here it’s a more or less familiar : back to the level crossing where we’ll cross the A198 and cycle on the path going west for 0,7 of a mile before turning right towards Port Seaton. However at the bottom of the hill we’ll turn left, then right at the roundabout and down to Cockenzie. We’ll now follow the main road back to FR.

Distance back 22 miles

Please make sure your bike is roadworthy, that you carry a basic repair kit and have two inner tubes with you.

A lock might be useful too.

Your emergency details (ICE) should be both on you and in your cycle bag.

When riding, we should ride responsibility and with consideration of others. We do ride at our own risk whilst the group will always try to help as best as possible should anything untoward happen.

However ultimately we hope everyone will get themselves home safely.

Please read the Safe Riding Guidelines for Lothian & Borders before coming on the ride

Be dressed for the weather which so far is forecasted to be wet later in the day.

Hope to see you on Sunday.

Kristine.
