Derwent Valley Cycleway exploration ride - Derby to Belper Goes Green festival

Bike Week
Description

A relaxed pace ride from Derby to the Belper Goes Green festival in Belper. We will be riding on some of the Derwent Valley Cycleway (where it currently exists) and visiting some sites where there are plans to create the route.

A ride suitable for those who are interested in the Derwent Valley Cycleway and wanting to know more “on the ground” detail. If you’re not interested in the Derwent Valley Cycleway or the Belper Goes Green festival it probably isn’t for you! Note that as the full route doesn’t yet exist, there will be the need to cycle on some busy roads including the A6 so the ride is only suitable for confident riders. There will be many stops where we can explain what is planned and answer questions. We will ride as a group so will travel at a pace suitable for all. Adults only.

The destination is the Belper Goes Green festival which will include a stall providing more details of the Derwent Valley Trust as well as many other activities including music, food and a beer festival. Admission to Belper Goes Green is £2.50. The ride is one way (Derby to Belper) and riders will make their own way back in their own time.

The route is very mixed including high quality off road tracks, a route alongside a busy road, quiet backstreets, busy main road (A6), and a short unsurfaced section. There is the need to carry the bike up about 5 steps at one point – others will be available to assist if needed.

If you want to attend then you need to book by email to cycle@derwentvalleytrust.org.uk. Places are limited.
