Cycling UK Gainsborough Charity Ride in aid of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance

Description 

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the ride will not be able to be run as group event this year. Just choose a time and day to suit between 1st May and 31st August. There is a choice of 10, 15, and 30 mile routes. Cyclists can obtain a route map and information from Gainsborough Cycles (see below). 

The 10 ride will start from Heapham Road Gainsborough and head to Upton. Arriving in Upton the route will make a left turn riding through the village to return back to Gainsborough via Heapham, heading along Heapham Road and finishing back in Gainsborough.

The 15 mile ride will start from Heapham Road Gainsborough and head to Upton. Arriving in Upton a right turn will take riders through Kexby village to return back to Gainsborough via Heapham, heading along Heapham Road and finishing back in Gainsborough.

The 30 mile ride will start from Heapham Road Gainsborough and head to Upton. Arriving in Upton a right turn will take riders  through Kexby then riding through Willingham by Stow, Stow, Sturton by Stow and Thorpe le Fallows. Arriving in Brattleby the rider’s will push hard on their pedals for the big climb up the hill onto the Lincolnshire edge, the rider’s will be rewarded with fantastic views over the Trent valley as they progress along Middle Street. Arriving at Glentworth the riders will head down hill then across country to the edge of Upton, returning to Gainsborough past Hewitt’s Windmill. The route will then retrace the outward ride along Heapham Road and finishing back in Gainsborough.

The routes are an enjoyable cycle ride through some of Lincolnshire’s finest countryside, the country lanes are full of flora and wild life.

Please note there are no shops or toilets along either of the ride routes; please ensure you have a drink / refreshments before starting. It is recommended to wear a cycle helmet and bright clothing also check your cycle is road worthy before starting the ride. (Gainsborough Cycles offers a free Visual Cycle Safety Check). If you are mechanically able carry a small tool kit and inner tube. We recommend the ride is done in daylight hours.

​Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club / Cycling UK Gainsborough / Gainsborough Cycles / Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance do not accept any liability for accidents, property damage or loss on the ride. You are responsible for your own safety.

​Before starting the ride please check latest Covid-19 guide lines. It is required that any under 18's ride with a responsible parent or guardian. Remember you are on quiet country roads, please respect other road users and follow the highway and country-side codes. The rider who raises the most money will be awarded The Colin Smith Memorial Shield to hold for one year.
