Trikes and Bikes

Trikes and Bikes

Welcome to Trikes and Bikes homepage, a Recycling Centre affiliated to Cycling UK

About the centre

Trikes and Bikes CIC was established in 2013 by John Horton, Jim Everett and Ian Robertson with the aim of providing better access to e-bikes and electric tricycles in the Midlands area. We also realised that there was a gap in providing adapted bikes and parts for adapted bikes in Birmingham. There are still only a handful of companies offering this service and in 2016 we’re the only one in Birmingham.

We’ve been involved in all sorts of events including working with Birmingham City Council in retirement homes to promote cycling.

We moved into our current premises on the ReUsers site in Sutton Coldfield as a synergy partner. We help to recycle some of the donated bikes away from landfill and scrap to provide low cost serviced bikes. As part of this we manage a team of volunteers who work with us learning basic maintenance and repair skills in the process.

bike2life is another North Birmingham based recycling project and we’re closely linked to this project – Jim and Ian were founder members.

Sadly John Horton died suddenly in early 2016 – his enthusiasm and brilliant people skills are really missed. It’s taken us a few months to get over this, and there are lots of time when we realise how much a part of the business John was.

What you’ll find if you come into the shop is a down to earth approach to cycling – we will offer a pragmatic and cost effective solution for you
