Kevin Presland - Certificate of Merit

Kevin Presland is a longstanding member of CTC Devon. He is a past President and Secretary. He has organised the highly successful Dartmoor Devil 100k Audax for the last 19 years and a popular annual summer tour in Europe.

In 2013 he arranged three new events.  One was a 140k overnight Audax ride called the Dartmoor Ghost that took in the most haunted sites on the moor.  The second was a fun Freewheeling Competition at Bickington on the old A38 that attracted several newcomers to attend.  These were both popular events and will probably become regular fixtures.  The third was a special event called the Stat Ride on May 5th to celebrate the opening of the RCN Route 2 cycle bridge over the river lemon in the Teign Valley between Kingsteignton and Newton Abbot.

This involved six separate rides led and marshalled by each of the CTC Groups in the area.  They converged on Forde Park in Newton Abbot (hence the Stat design on the colourful free T-shirts distributed to participants) for the official opening of the bridge.  Kevin counted over 100 new riders joining a CTC ride for the first time, many of whom expressed enthusiasm for future CTC events.  He generated excellent publicity for the CTC and cemented valuable links with the Teignbridge District and Devon Country Council.

That is why he deserves some acknowledgment for his great achievements.
