Cycling UK Trainer: Pete Coddington

Pete has worked on Cycling UK courses for 15 years and is ideally located to deliver Cycling UK's European training - he's based in the outdoor playground otherwise known as the French Alps. As a result, Pete specialises in the development of the Cycling UK Cultural Modules.

Key attributes:

  • Instructor in MTB, sailing, windsurfing, paddling, climbing and orienteering
  • Former outdoor centre manager and development officer
  • Specialises in the cultural element of MTB
  • Over 15 years' Cycling UK experience
  • Based in the French Alps

As a keen outdoor enthusiast from an early age, Pete went full time into outdoor education following an intensive Outdoor Instructor Training programme at Plas Menai, Wales.

He has worked as an instructor, trainer, manager and development officer in a number of outdoor centres and organisations.

Pete’s main activities have been sailing, windsurfing and paddling, together with mountain biking, climbing and orienteering.

In 2003, he moved to the French Alps to broaden life experiences and make the most of winter sports in the sun!

Having started mountain biking in the late eighties, Pete is amazed to see how much the sport has developed from such humble beginnings. Over 20 years later, he loves it as much as ever.  In the last 10 years he has mainly been involved in courses based outside the UK, so the cultural element to mountain bike leading has become his speciality.

He became a Mountain Bike Leader Trainer in 1998 and has thoroughly enjoyed the many courses delivered over the years, particularly the people he's met and the experiences he's shared.
