Burnley Active Spaces

Volunteer training in Townley Park
The Active Spaces charity in Burnley operates from Townley Park and offers a range of walking and cycling opportunities to improve health for people who have either responded to an advert or who have been referred by a health professional.

Townley Park offers a stunning setting for a weekly programme of health rides that use a fleet of mountain bikes and adapted cycles for those who are less mobile.

Through the partnership work of Cycling UK and Lancashire County Council, the Community Cycle Club Gateway Programme helped purchase a small fleet of specialist tricycles, now in regular service around the park. We were also able to train a number of volunteers as ride leaders to help ensure the sustainability of the cycling activities.
