Melanie Berry - HER Spirit

Melanie is an experienced sport marketeer with over twenty years working in the sports & business industry in the UK, and globally. She has worked with some of the biggest global brands such as Adidas, DFS, Speedo International & Boots, as well as numerous start ups, national governing bodies, and major events. Supporting this work, Melanie is a mentor and lecturer at Nottingham Universities Business School and the Ingenuity Lab, and was recognised as the mentor of the year (2017) for Nottingham Universities Ingenuity Lab. She is also a qualified triathlon coach, and loves taking on new challenges such as marathons, and cycling events such as the L’Etape du Tour. Melanie founded HER Spirit with Holly Woodford in 2018.

Mirjam Borsboom - Senior policy advisor, international cycling strategies and policies 

With an engineering degree in both Industrial Engineering (BSc) and Civil Engineering (MSc), Mirjam has learned to deal with complex multi-model systems problems. During her studies, she worked on projects with large companies such as Philips, A.T. Kearney and the Schiphol Group. Several new initiatives were set up, for example participation in the classic sailing competition the Race of the Classics of Team Eindhoven. Her professional career projects were focused within the field of mobility and carried out with ARANE consultancy, Delft Road Safety Course, Delft University of Technology, PPA, Rijkswaterstaat (executive part of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment) and the Schiphol Group, amongst others. 

Jenny Box - Head of behaviour change and development, Cycling UK

Jenny joined Cycling UK after nine years’ experience in national governing bodies for sport, and now focuses on helping to achieve Cycling UK’s mission of enabling millions more people to cycle, through key behaviour change projects including the Big Bike Revival, Community Cycle Clubs, and Cycle for Health.

Cllr Anna Richardson – City convener for sustainability and carbon reduction, Glasgow City Council

Councillor Anna Richardson is also SNP councillor for the Langside Ward in Glasgow. She was awarded Cycling Champion of the Year in 2019 for her commitment and leadership in making Glasgow and Scotland a cleaner and healthier place to live. Her influence in the expansion of cycling infrastructure in Glasgow means many different parts of Glasgow will become increasingly accessible by bike. Added to this, Glasgow’s ambitions to increase Bikeability Scotland delivery to all primary schools, alongside the expansion of the public bike hire scheme. 

Cllr Adam Clarke – Deputy city mayor, Leicester City Council

Adam is tasked with overseeing environment and transportation in Leicester, as well as the city's response to the climate emergency. The council is developing a series of transport recovery measures to enable people to get around the city more safely and healthily, enabling local businesses and their employees as lockdown restrictions are eased under the government’s recovery plans. 

Lior Steinberg – Co-founder & urban planner, Humankind

Lior Steinberg is an urban planner and co-founder of Humankind, a Rotterdam-based agency delivering urban change. He helps cities "look beyond functionality, to plan urban spaces that make people smile". His speciality is the multidisciplinary approach to town planning and bicycle plans: it's not just about infrastructure, but also quality of life, design, politics, communications, and many other areas. He has previously worked on cycling strategies and plans in different countries, including the Tel Aviv strategy in Israel. He shares inspiring urban and bicycle knowledge through workshops, tours, and presentations.

Duncan Dollimore – Head of campaigns and advocacy, Cycling UK

Make commuting by bike the first choice – practical changes to help your staff safely return to the workplace

Dame Sarah Storey – Active travel commissioner, Sheffield City Region

Dame Sarah Storey, Britain’s most successful female Paralympian, is also active travel commissioner for Sheffield City Region. Her role involves championing active travel and working to create a region in which more people travel on foot, by bike or by public transport.

Paul Hoffschult – 3pm consultancy

3pm is a consulting firm with extensive knowledge and expertise in the field of behavioural change and data technology with regard to mobility. They work with organisations at a strategic and operational level to enable them to support people to utilise active travel, whether commuting to work, to school, or for everyday journeys. 

Jayne Cornelius – Sustainable travel officer, Swansea University

Jayne is part of the Sustainability Team within the SHE services, based at Swansea University, encouraging sustainable transport as part of the Sustainable Travel Plan and associated Action Plan. Working with partners to develop the best transport options possible for our students and staff, as well as influencing the surrounding region. 

Anne Marthe Jalvingh – Royal HaskoningDHV

Anne Marthe Jalvingh is a traffic psychologist in the Human Factors team of Royal HaskoningDHV. Her main focus is the transition towards sustainable mobility, with an emphasis on sustainable business mobility. She is committed to improving Royal HaskoningDHV’s own mobility policy and to help other organisations make similar changes. The coronavirus crisis has created an opportunity to stimulate cycling among employees, but it is essential to understand their views, needs and behaviour to bring cycling to its full potential.
