Join a family fun event for a good cause near you!

Events are taking place across the UK ahead of local elections on May 3
In the lead up to local elections on May 3, local groups in England will be riding out to raise the profile of cycling. All events are family friendly and non-competitive - and most finish with a picnic and a chance to quiz your local councillors! Find an event near you - all the details are below. Pedal on Parliament are organising similar events in Scotland.

Vote Bike rides in England: Saturday 21 April

Cambridge

Join Camcyle and Cambridge Carbon Footprint outside the Guildhall at 10:00 for a 10:30 start. Local MP and cycling enthusiast, Daniel Zeichner, will be joining the group. All details are on the Facebook event. 

Huddersfield

The Kirklees Cycle Campaign will be gathering at the Magic Rock Brewery at 10:00 for a 10:15 start. The ride will finish at 11:00 in St Georges Square, where riders will be met by local council candidates who will give their vision for cycling if elected. 

Leeds

Join the Leeds Cycling Campaign in Victoria Gardens at 11:00 for an 11:30 start. More details will be given on the Facebook page. 

Portsmouth

You can join the Portsmouth Cycle Forum at the following points: 

  • 12:15 for 12:30 depart from Farlington Marshes
  • 12:45 Portsmouth Watersports Centre
  • 13:00 Goals
  • 13:15 Bransbury Park
  • 13:30 Coffee Cup on Southsea Seafront

The ride will end at the at Watkins and Faux café (the old tennis club by the volleyball courts) at 2pm for a picnic (an inside space has been reserved in case of rain).

Friday 27 April

Crewe

Led by CreweACT, riders will gather at 6pm outside Crewe station before heading off on a loop around the town centre. 

Saturday 28 April

Liverpool

Following the success of last year, the Merseyside Cycling Campaign are staging a pre election rally at the Pier Head between 11.30 – 12.30. Riders will gather in front of the Liver Building next to the Mersey.

Sheffield

Every year, Cycle Sheffield hold their annual Big Ride - and it keeps getting bigger and better. This year, riders will congregate in Devonshire Green at 10:30am, ready to set off at 11am. 

Thirsk

Riders will gather at 10am outside Thirsk railway station before doing a loop to and from Carlton Miniott Primary School. The ride will be led by Jacqueline Mountford, a local resident who has been campaigning for a cycleway on the A61 west of Thirsk. 

Warwick

Local residents will be meeting at Bancroft at 11am to show their support for a recent motion passed by Warwickshire County Council and to stimulate further action and debate. 

Pedal on Parliament, Scotland: Saturday 28 April

Edinburgh

Meet at The Meadows at 12:00 to cycle, scoot and march on closed roads down to the Scottish Parliament. All ages and abilities welcome! 

Inverness

Join Inverness Pedal on Parliament at 11am at Bellfield Park to ride on the council offices.

Sunday 29 April

Aberdeen

Join the Aberdeen Cycle Forum for a ride through the heart of Aberdeen at 11 am.
